For maths we did something called 'Maths Daily Dollar.' It has a few questions and for each question we get money on Banqer and everyday we get different questions with different maths topics. Today's topic was on statistics. We had a chart that had temperatures for the different days. Here is a picture of the chart and some of the questions.

I found some of the questions easy and some of them challenging.

Banqer

For the first couple days back at school our class has been using a website called Banqer. It is an online banking system were it basically mirrors real life. You get income(money you get from work/investment, usually regularly), Expenses(Money spent on something you want or need), and fines(A certain amount of money charged for a bad deed). We have also been starting to learn about interest and return. Interest is the money paid regularly at a particular rate for the use of money lent and return is the money made from interest. We can gain extra money from doing jobs for class or school or getting certificates. We also get fines from doing bad things like noise pollution.

Waitangi trip

 W.A.L.T: Blog about our Waitangi trip.

On Friday we drove to Paihia on bus to go to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. It was a one and a half hour drive. When we hopped off the bus our guides whaea Karen and whaea Cherie were there. Then we separated into two groups. The first group I was in was with whaea Cherie and we had to go into pairs. Then we had to grab a phone and make a group name on this goose chase game. I was with Sofia and our pair name was picklefriends2812. The app it had a bunch of different tasks that we had to complete so we went around the ground and completed each the tasks one by one. On the way we also learnt quite a bit about the grounds and its history. Some of the places we went to were the Busby House, the Waitangi museum, the gallery and we went past Hobson's beach. We came back to the learning centre and our groups swapped. Then whaea Karen explained the different workstations that were on each table. The first one that me and my pair Sofia went to was the VR. I went first and you could teleport and write with different pens. Next was the green screen that had cool backgrounds. Next was SculptGL and where you get to sculpt patterns on 3D shapes. Then we did Paint3D where you can paint 3D things and draw. Last was tinkercad and you build this using 3D shapes.

I enjoyed the VR the most. I learnt that Kupe was the first to travel to Aotearoa.

Prior knowledge

W.A.L.T: Upload our prior knowledge inquiry task and write about it.

Today for blogging we either had to blog about our holiday learning which is writing about something you did in the holidays that help you learn about something (swimming,fishing,etc). The other option was uploading our inquiry task from yesterday. I chose to do my inquiry task. For our inquiry task we had been given a two by three table. They each had a text in each square that I would have to answer. The first square said I know, the second said I think and the third said I wonder. I didn't fill in the I think.These questions were based on my knowledge about New Zealand and how people travel here. The second row texts were about my experience. The first box said my experience with boats, the second said my experience with cars and the last said my experience with planes. Here are my answers for the questions

I most enjoyed filling in the I know. I found it most challenging to do the I wonder.

Fable Planning

 W.A.L.T: Plan our own fables using a mountain narrative structure. 

Recently we have been learning about fables. Today we were planning our own narrative using the mountain structure. The moral of the fable must be about one of our schools rules. The mountain structure includes characters, setting, opening, problem, dilemma, resolution, ending and moral.

I found this task fun because I got to plan a fable/story. I enjoyed making the character names and using juicy vocabulary. I found it challenging to make a dilemma.

Morals

 W.A.L.T: Write about morals and explain what they are.

Morals have been around for quite some time. Our blogging task was to explain what a moral is. Here is some information revolving around morals.

What is a moral?

A moral is a lesson that is learnt in stories. Most stories that have morals are known as fables. Some of the fables I know are 'The fox and the grapes' and 'The lion and the mouse'.

Who is a storyteller that make up fables?

One of the well known storytellers is Aesop. Aesop is a greek storyteller who would tell his fables to people and they got passed on to many generations. He was well known in his time for 2 reasons. Reason one was his fables. Reason two was because he was short and rather ugly. Although Aesop was ugly he was funny and people liked to listen to his stories.

Literacy task

 W.A.L.T: Write about our literacy task.

Today in our literacy rotations we had to make a poem comparison about two poems we read. The poems were 'My Grandad's hands' and 'Huia'. We had to write what language features the poems had and what effect it gave us as readers. Here is my poem comparison.

It was most challenging to explain what effect the poems had on me as a reader.
